Scroll Cinema 0.4.1 — Autoplay Indicator

I’ve made a 0.4.1 update to improve the user experience of autoplaying sequences — it introduces an indicator to signal when an animation is ongoing.

About half of users I’ve been testing with recently have felt unsure when to swipe or not in OnChain Mecha. I think this is because swiping throughout the piece doesn’t always directly correspond to an illusion of moving through space.

In any case, here’s now what users will see when an autorun interval is active:

In addition to improving the overall user experience, I think this update could allow for more creativity when it comes to creating animations, namely allowing for experiences in which users swipe, trigger an animation, then swipe again to continue an animation, but not necessarily requiring the illusion of moving down a page for it to make sense.

In addition, I’ve also made some under-the-hood improvements to get ready for upcoming features; this update also doubles as a test of the version upgrade system.

Make sure to back up your projects before updating, and as always, just let me know if you have any questions! Feel free to find me on Discord or comment below. Thanks!
