Calling all e-lit makers, artists, writers, designers, coders, and creators of all kinds! We’re organizing a new multimedia anthology, Scrollimation — a collection exploring the art and culture of scrolling – and we’d love for you to be part of it.
Who: E-lit creators, animators, zinesters, writers, artists, designers, coders, and anyone else interested in the effect of the Scroll on our lives and world. Whether you love your phone or hate it, are inspired by the millions of cat videos on the web or are challenged by the endless sea of content served by the Algorithm, we want to hear from you!
What: Work solo or collaboratively to create previously unpublished scroll-driven works, zines, webcomics, poems, stories, videos, or other media that either use scrolling as a creative mechanic or reflect on the technologies that shape our modern society — our devices, feeds, interfaces, and gestures.
When: Our submission deadline is Monday, January 5th. The new deadline is Sunday, February 15th. (This is also a good opportunity to also prepare a piece for the next Electronic Literature Collection, submissions due by January 31st) The date will come fast — let’s get started!
Accepted Formats: Our platform is capable of supporting HTML projects, PDFs, artwork, videos, rich text, and more (see our previous project, Alternative Worlds, for an example).
For scroll-based publications, we recommend Scroll Cinema (free access if participating) though any other tool works, and static pieces (like zines or comics) that conceptually engage with scrolling or digital life are equally welcome.
This is a space to push the boundaries of storytelling and design by implementing scrolling in your work digitally, metaphorically, or whatever else comes to mind!
Compensation: We are unable to compensate participants upfront and plan to release the collection for free; however, if the resulting collection is of high enough quality, we may make it premium and implement revenue sharing among participants whose submissions are accepted (subject to participant approval).
If you’d like to get involved, please…
- Fill out our participation form (this is for uploading your work and will help us develop programming).
- Join our Discord server (optional, highly encouraged).
- Start connecting and creating!

Background
We live in a world dominated by scrolling.
From sleek product pages, to editorial news features, to vibrant social media feeds, our lives are bombarded by infinite streams of hot political takes, inspirational quotes, AI slop, artistic excellence, life updates, and more.
But what if we could harness that energy, invert it… and transform it?
This collection is an opportunity to participate in a creative community and reflect on technology’s place in our society. We hope that we can take the scrolling concept, so often meant to provide a simple dopamine rush, and recontextualize it in a creative and transformative way.
