Welcome to AltSalt’s Privacy Policy! This document (the “Privacy Policy”) describes how AltSalt Media, LLC (henceforth “AltSalt,” “our,” or “we), in conjunction with its analytics and advertising partners, collects, shares, and processes data about you.

Throughout this document, the term “Services” shall refer to the original content, resources, and other items we provide in relation with or through our website, altsalt.com, as defined in our User Agreement.

1. Types of information collected

Hardware data. Whenever you use our Services, we may collect information related to your device, including unique device identifiers, serial number, hardware details (such as screen resolution and graphics card type), operating system, IP address, country of installation, device manufacturer, language, and CPU information.

Information you give us. If you register to use our Services, such as creating an AltSalt account, we collect the information you give us, which may include such information as name, email address, date of birth, country of residence, and reading preferences.

Usage data. We also collect information related to your use of our Services. This may include details about how you go through our apps and website, the links you click on, the stories you read, the date and time of access, advertising you interact with inside of our Services, inferences utilized to create a profile about potential preferences and characteristics, and other information about how you use our Services.

Purchases. Some of our Services may allow you to make purchases. If you use our Services to make a purchase, we may collect information about that purchase, including credit card number, item purchased, date of purchase, and transaction amounts.

2. How the information is used

We collect this data based on our legitimate interests of improving and maintaining our Services, including creating new content, modifying existing Services, troubleshooting crashes, testing, and performing research. We also use this data to suggest features relevant to you, perform content recommendations, provide tailored advertising, send promotional offers, keep our Services secure, comply with relevant laws and regulations, and to protect or exercise our rights or defend against legal claims.

3. How the information is shared

We share your usage data with trusted third party partners outside of AltSalt for processing, the details of which can be read below.

If you choose to connect our service to a third party, we may share your information with that service, and that service may share information with us.

If permitted, your data may also be shared as a part of a sale or transfer of company assets.

Installed applications. Whenever you install one of our applications on a device such as a phone, tablet, or computer, we may share your device and usage data with Unity Technologies, our app analytics partner. You can find Unity’s privacy policy here.

Website. Whenever you use our website, we share data with Google Analytics, our website analytics partner. You can find Google’s privacy policy here.

In addition, we may share information you have provided publicly in order to promote your work, or to publicize an initiative you have participated in. For example, if you create a listing for a zine, comic, or game, or if you write an article for the Site, we may promote that work on AltSalt’s web pages or social media channels.

4. Your data usage rights

Account information. If you have an AltSalt account, you have the ability to correct, modify, or update the information you have provided to us. From within your account settings, you also have the ability to deactivate your account, as well as the option to erase all of your account data from our servers.

Other data collection. You may opt out of collection of hardware and usage data at any time. In the case of our installed applications, you can access the opt out option from within the menu of the application in question. For our website’s Google analytics, you may opt out here.

5. How the information is stored

We store the information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary to perform the activities laid out in this Privacy Policy. We have also implemented administrative and technical measures to protect against loss; theft; misuse; unauthorized access, modification, and destruction; and other unauthorized use of your information. However, please note that no security measures can be guaranteed to be impenetrable.

6. Information about children

Our Services are intended for audiences above 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect or process information about anyone under 13. If you believe we may have information about a child underneath the appropriate age, please contact us at info [at] altsalt.com.

7. Modifications

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. When we do so, we will post a heading with any modifications on this document, as well as provide a notification on the relevant Services.
